Who Were the Pioneers?

The pioneers were the early settlers. They chose to live in a "new" land.

The first European people who moved to Toronto and its farming area were mainly from England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany. Many had moved north from the United States.

There were many reasons that people left their homeland : Some people came to Canada for religious freedom. Some didn’t like the way their country was being run, and some of them came for a better life.
