School and Group Trips - What's New
Based on an integrated approach to learning, our school programs are suitable for all grade levels. We use the Ontario Curriculum - Social Studies, History, Language, Health and Physical Education - as our development guide. Programs are categorized into three areas - New Programs, Hands-On Experience and Interactive Programs.
- All programs are 1 and 3/4 hours in length except for Pioneer Life, Back to School plus tour and Winter in the Village.
- All of our Education and Day Camp Programs are H.S.T. Exempt!!
- Classroom teachers and Educational Assistants are free with a group booking!

Feature Program: War of 1812 Remembered
Available May and June 2013
Tour historic Black Creek and discover the personalities of the War of 1812. See the war through the perspectives of women, First Nations, soldiers and settlers. Different experiences, reactions and attitudes will be related by the descedents of the nineteenth century settlers. Search for photographs, diary enteries, artifacts along the way and interact with characters you meet!
ALL NEW: Extend any half day program, for an additional hour for only $5.00.
Choose from one of our exciting new workshops:
- Lacrosse Skills-learn the fundamentals of lacrosse as well as its importance to Canadian First Nations. Improve your cooperation and teamwork skills while learning how to scoop, cradle, and pass in lacross. Take history out of a book and put it in your hands!
- Victorian Dancing-You are invited to a ball. Our expert staff will instruct participants on three nineteenth century dances. Put on your dancing shoes!
- Pioneer Craft-TBD
- Extend your Tour-spend more time with our knowledgable staff. Explore more of our historic buildings and engage in exciting hands-on activities!
ALL NEW: Tea and Tour
Enjoy a delectable selection of proper tea sandwiches, warm scones, tarts, and petit fours, and English tea. When you are done, tour the historic Village with one of our knowledgable guides. Pick from any of the following tour selections:

Summer Camps and Daycares
Summer camps and day cares check out Pioneer Summer Fun! Experience summer as kids did in the 1800s. Participate in games and sports popular at that time, have fun playing with traditional toys and enjoy trying on clothing that children wore long ago. Learn to dance and even make your own toy! This interactive program includes visits to the Village's 1860s homes and trade shops, where you can experience activities such as helping with the printing press, carding wool and more!
In Kids Pioneer Amazing Race children complete"Pioneer Challenges" around the Village, collecting clues as they go. The first team to solve the puzzle and get back to home base wins! Other programs available are Yesterday's Child, Step Into the Past, New Language, New Land and for the little ones Sensory Adventures.
Perfect for Cubs and Scouts and Brownies and Guides
We have exciting interactive programs that will meet your Badge requirements such as Heritage Badge(Scouts),Canadian Heritage Badge(Cubs), Heritage, Heritage Home Skills and Folklore Badges (Guides) and Family Heritage, Key to My Communitry: Celebrations (Brownies). We offer selected programs for PA day and week end day trips!
