Get a Head Start on the Holidays: November at the Village

You can feel it, can’t you? Faint but unmistakable: that first breath of winter’s chill. It’s on the way — and with it, the promise of another happy holiday season, full of good food, gift-giving and great times spent with family and friends.

At the Village in November, we’re all about getting into the festive spirit. Our Family Christmas Weekends, starting November 18, bring Victorian holiday traditions to life: from authentic decorations, dancing and caroling to seasonal treats such as mincemeat pies, flaming puddings and hot apple cider.

We’ve even got the proverbial chestnuts roasting on an open fire. (Jack Frost nipping at your nose optional.)

It’s never too soon to start celebrating the season, so check our events calendar for dates and times.

Experience the Village in a whole new way on your next visit. Our Pioneer Vision app combines historic images of the past with the technology of the present to offer an immersive virtual reality tour of Black Creek. Download to your smartphone from Google Play or the App Store.

Hi there. I’m Blythe, a history actor here at Black Creek Pioneer Village

Well, it’s November and winter is well on its way. There’s a buzz beginning as the holidays approach, and here at the Village we’re getting ready to celebrate with you.

Like always, there’s so much to see and do here. So what is happening in the Village in November? Let’s take a peek!

Beginning November 18th and continuing to December 23rd, be sure to make your way to the Village for Family Christmas Weekends. Come see the Village dressed up in all its holiday finery, with wreaths and garlands adding a colourful air to this pioneer site.

Celebrate the season with traditions old and new in a delightful array of activities. Stop to smell the delicious scents of the season, and marvel at old-fashioned Christmas feasts. Sample a taste of flaming puddings of yesteryear, and tap your feet while taking part in Victorian dancing.

You’ve heard the line in that old Christmas song a hundred times: chestnuts roasting on an open fire. So come and try them! Or purchase mincemeat tarts and apple cider.

And wherever you go throughout the Village, we’re sure to get you into the holiday spirit.

It’s a jam-packed November, so come and join in the fun. For tickets and more information, visit blackcreek.ca.

That’s all for now. See you at the Village!
