Métis artist Tracey-Mae Chambers returns this June with a temporary large-scale art project inside the School House at The Village. This marks the third “Hope and Healing” installation hosted by The Village, the first having debuted in 2021.
Chambers uses her work to comment on the effects of colonization and prompts visitors to reflect on maintaining hope amidst global challenges. These installations across Canada utilize crochet, knit, and woven red yarns to forge connections between Indigenous, Inuit, and Métis communities and Canadians, while also exploring the decolonization of public spaces.
The installation with Tracey-Mae Chambers will take place Saturday, June 1, 2024, at The Village. Visitors will be able to view the installation in progress. The public program of the installation will be from 11am -4pm. The exhibit will be on display Sunday, October 6, 2024.
